MillTch64 is the most significant technical overhaul of the MillTech system in almost 20 years. MillTech64’s comprehensive upgrade modernizes the entire MillTech platform, delivering greater performance and reliability and is a strong foundation for MillTech’s next decade of service to the solid wood industry.

Upgrading MillTech to 64-Bit

Moving MillTech from a 32-bit to a 64-bit architecture unlocks significant performance and stability improvements.
Key benefits of 64bit include:

Unlimited Memory Access: By removing the restrictive 4GB RAM limit, MillTech can now utilize your system's full memory capacity. This ensures faster processing and smoother operation when handling large data sets.

Enhanced Multitasking: Users can run MillTech alongside multiple high-demand applications without the system slowdowns common in 32-bit environments.

Eliminated Memory Errors: This upgrade drastically reduces "out of memory" errors and application crashes, especially when working with large files.

Modern Compatibility: Recent Microsoft updates have introduced stability issues for older 32-bit applications. Moving to 64-bit resolves these underlying conflicts with memory management.
Additional MillTech Enhancements
Along with the architecture shift, we are introducing several key infrastructure upgrades:
Refreshed MillTech Interface Engine: We’ve updated our third-party UI tool (last patched in 2016) to the latest version. While the interface will look familiar, you will experience improved speed in data grids, faster query responses, and more responsive drag-and-drop functionality.
Faster Reporting (Microsoft SSRS): We are upgrading to the latest version of Microsoft SSRS for all reports, dashboards, and tag generation. This update delivers faster report rendering, enhanced bug fixes, and improved overall reliability.
Converting the system to this new architecture was a major undertaking, but it has provided us with advanced tools to further refine our code and squash known bugs.
Product (user interfaces) Changes
We do have a number planned in near future versions as well as some significant new MillTech products including Web Apps and MillTech AI. Going to the new technologies will make doing enhancements to MillTech that much easier.
